EMT Certification
The VMSC EMT Certification Course is a comprehensive training program that includes everything students need to succeed in the classroom and in the field. All required textbooks, workbooks, and printed materials are provided at the start of the course. Students will also receive one official VMSC EMT uniform shirt, which is required during hands-on lab sessions and clinical ride-alongs.
Throughout the program, students have full access to our training equipment and simulation tools, including airway devices, trauma kits, oxygen delivery systems, and splinting materials. Clinical and field experience is an essential part of the course and includes scheduled ride-alongs and observation shifts with experienced VMSC EMS crews.
The EMT certification course is a fifth teen week accelerated course with classes meeting twice a week.
Upon successful completion of the VMSC EMT Certification Course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam. Passing this exam qualifies individuals to apply for Pennsylvania State EMT Certification, allowing them to practice as a certified Emergency Medical Technician. This nationally recognized certification may also be transferable to other states, depending on individual state requirements.
No prior medical knowledge or experience is required to enroll in the VMSC EMT Certification Course.
This program is designed for individuals entering the field of emergency medical services for the first time. All foundational concepts, hands-on skills, and clinical practices are taught from the ground up, making it ideal for those starting a career in healthcare or public safety.
To enroll in the VMSC EMT Certification Course, applicants must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the program and possess a valid photo ID. Additional requirement may include completion of a background check, health screening, and attendance at a mandatory orientation.
